SUDHEIM
Arrived in frankfurt, went to the hotel and rested. We weren't feeling guilty as we had to catch up from the flight from Hong Kong plus is was over cast and damp. Day 2 in Germany and still more sleep. In the afternoon we went to our first german christmas markets and had some ghluwien (mulled wine)......fantastic at warming you up. Day 3 did some shopping for essentials at the local shopping village at the back of our hotel....very handy.
Off to goettingen on the ICE train and we met there by our brother in law from Australia and Tobi his son in law. We spent the next 5 days in a small town called Sudheim with Lisa, Tobi, their new baby Nicolas and Tony. This week was the best because we saw provincial germany. The weather was still overcast but with good Germany beer, schnapps, red wine etc we got by. We did the night markets in goettingen, wow what a crowd. Still more ghluwien and german sausage. We celebrated Christmas Eve, as is the german way, with Toby's family. What fun...Man can they eat. Lots of german spoken but we got the gist. On Christmas Day went for a walk in the Forrest Lisa and Tobi live in a quiet village surrounded by fields and Forrest in the evening we went to Goslar just to see another beautiful medieval town with christmas markets. On Boxing Day we went to Einbeck to sample another christmas markets for lunch (Lisa's home town) and caught up with some of her friends. Finally it was time to leave Lisa and Tobi and we caught the ICE train to Freiburg.
A big thanks to Lisa and Tobi for looking after us so well.
